Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan, the Sacred Thread of Protection

A sister ties a Rakhi (Sacred Protective Thread) on her brother’s wrist and he promises to protect her. In the sangat that promise grows wider: Gurubhais and Gurubehans protect one another on the path. Send a Sangathan card.

What Raksha Bandhan means

Raksha Bandhan, “the bond of protection”, falls on the full moon of Shravana. Sisters pray for their brothers’ well-being and tie a sacred thread; brothers pledge their protection and give a gift.

For disciples the bond reaches every Gurubhai / Gurubehan (Spiritual Brother / Sister). On the path of Brahm Gyan (Direct Internal Awakening / Self-Realization) we protect one another by keeping each other in satsang, in Sewa (Selfless Service) and in daily Sadhna (Daily Meditation Practice), especially when the way is hard. The thread of the Guru’s grace holds us all.
